Building a
Better Sooke
Sooke has experienced tremendous growth over the last decade, but infrastructure is not keeping pace.
The Issues That Matter
Infrastructure & Traffic
Improve roads, reduce congestion, expand bridges, and create better traffic solutions for growing pressure in Sooke.
Health Care
Push for stronger communication with government and ensure Sooke’s healthcare needs stay on the agenda.
Greater Accountability
Increase council attendance standards, hold more meetings, and improve responsiveness to the public.
Town Halls & Public Voice
Create regular Town Hall meetings where residents can directly raise concerns and ask questions.
Cap Tax Increases
Oppose unsustainable tax increases and focus on careful prioritization and responsible spending.
Find New Efficiencies
Identify waste, improve services, and reduce unnecessary costs with a performance audit.
Find More Money
Increase grant funding opportunities and reduce dependence on outside consultants.
Support the Trail Network
Support outdoor recreation expansion and help make Sooke a recognized recreation destination.
About Ty Daniels
I grew up on a farm where I learned the value of hard work and perseverance, left at 19, and worked my way through university. From there, I worked as a journalist and eventually found my way into the software industry, becoming General Manager and co-founder of a software startup. I have a hands-on understanding of the challenges of running a business and what is needed to survive and thrive
In 2006, I decided I wanted to serve and help people, so I became a Police Officer. I did this as I wanted to be there for people on their worst day. To bring compassion and empathy to situations I hope no one has to experience in their lifetime.
I am a practical, straightforward person. I want to find common-sense solutions in an open and accessible manner. I am eager to work with anyone and look forward to hearing community members' views. After 20 years of policing, I still want to continue serving the public. I have made Sooke my home for the past 10 years. I love it here and never plan to leave.
Early Career:
- Journalist with Maclean Hunter / Rogers Communications
- Software startup co-founder and GM
Public Service:
- Became Police Officer in 2006
- Focus on compassion and empathy
- Continued service to public
